Movie Rating Guide

Movie ratings were created by the Motion Picture Association (MPA) to give viewers guidelines about a film’s content so that viewers can make informed choices on what they and their families watch. A rating may also be accompanied by a content label that further defines content within the film. Definitions for both the ratings and the labels are below.

GENERAL AUDIENCES

Nothing in the film that would offend parents when viewed by their children. Suitable for audiences of all ages. The film contains little or no material that would be considered inappropriate for children.

PARENTAL GUIDANCE SUGGESTED

Some material may not be suitable for young children. Parents are encouraged to review the film and determine whether it is appropriate for their children.

PARENTS STRONGLY CAUTIONED

Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Parents are strongly encouraged to consider the content and determine whether the film is appropriate for their children.

RESTRICTED

Contains adult material that may include strong language, violence, sexual content, or other mature themes. Persons under 17 generally require accompaniment by a parent or adult guardian.

ADULTS ONLY

Intended exclusively for adults. No one 17 or younger is admitted.
